Research Assistant-Molecular Oncology

Remuneration: $82K- $93K per annum + 17% super + annual leave loading

Location: Kensington campus, NSW 

Why this role matters:

The Research Assistant will support ongoing investigations and carry out specific experiments under a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant. The Research Assistant will support research in large-scale expression profiling of ovarian tumours to identify prognostic markers for ovarian cancer. 

The role reports to the Professor, Molecular Oncology Group and has no direct reports.

Skills Required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Science, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Previous professional experience in a laboratory research related role with demonstrated experience in genomics or molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in performing high throughput processing of samples to extract RNA or DNA or PCR.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to show attention to detail and commitment to quality, with evidence of ability to accurately plan, execute and document experimental research.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
