Senior Project Manager, Experience & Belonging

Why your role matters

The Senior Project Manager – Experience & Belonging is a pivotal leadership position within the  Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio within the Division of Education & Student Experience. Reporting to the Director of Experience and leading a small team, this role will drive the development and implementation off nurture and onboarding activities for first year students. In addition, this role will drive initiatives designed to improve a student’s sense of belonging, foster student connection and make the campus a community destination. The Senior Project Manager will have a responsibility to keep up to date records and ensure compliance with relevant university policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and operationalisation of initiatives designed to enhance students’ experience through expanded first year engagement activities and an increased connection and sense of belonging to UNSW.
  • Lead the creation of a ‘Belonging Principles and Framework’ through consulting, drafting, piloting, and evaluating initiatives.
  • Develop and run a pilot university-wide mentoring program to be scaled from the second year of operations.
  • Lead the review and redesign of the Student Essentials (previously ELISE) onboarding modules in line with the new student code of conduct and other onboarding requirements to help students succeed at UNSW.
  • Lead the co-design and delivery of an expanded first year onboarding and ‘Design Your Experience’ program aimed at improving students’ ability to navigate courses and the 3+ calendar more broadly, locate support resources, and utilise campus facilities more effectively.
  • Develop, and maintain productive collaborative working relationships and active partnerships with internal stakeholders including students, Arc, Divisions, Faculties, and Schools.
  • Work collaboratively and consultatively with key stakeholders including students, Arc, Divisions, Faculties and Schools, and other relevant Divisions of the university across all projects.

About You:

  • A relevant tertiary degree with extensive experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proven experience in and a thorough understanding of issues facing tertiary education students of a diverse range of backgrounds and the key issues currently impacting engagement of both domestic and international students.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and leading programs that are focused on enhancing the student experience with a particular emphasis on student belonging and the first year experience.
  • Demonstrated success in internal and external stakeholder management in a tertiary education environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in leading change through the development and implementation of institution-wide strategies.
  • Extensive experience working in a large complex fast-paced organisation where conversion of prospective student interest is critical.
