The Senior Functional Analyst – Student Solutions partners with university stakeholders to deliver expert functional analysis, design, configuration, and support for UNSW’s student enterprise systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet evolving business needs.
This position reports to Lead Functional Analyst and has no direct reports.
Key accountabilities for this role include:
- Partner with customers and stakeholders to design and develop solutions to meet business needs
- Perform a lead role in IT Student Solutions projects working collaboratively with the project managers, vendors and business users to ensure successful outcomes.
- Provide expert level advice and guidance to users on system issues, particularly with respect to our implementation of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and StudyLink
- Design, Configuration and Testing of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and StudyLink applications
- Ensure system configuration operates in line with user needs, maximises PeopleSoft, StudyLink and other products’ delivered functionality
- Ensure the performance and integrity of the UNSW student systems such that they provide accurate and efficient output which meets the needs of stakeholders across the organisation.
- Proactively engage and collaborate with users and other customers to gather business requirements, assess business processes, and assist with the design of solutions which effectively deliver desired outcomes.
- Build, manage, and maintain successful relationships with various stakeholders including business process owners, customers, technical analyst, developers and Student Services & Systems teams
Your skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years of functional experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions applications in a senior business analyst or functional consultant role, in a complex higher education organization
- Prior experience in the implementation or support of the StudyLink application
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in some or all of ‘agile’, ‘waterfall’, ‘lean’ or ‘rapid’ application development methodologies.
- Well-developed skills in the use of standard office toolsets including drawing/diagramming tools (eg Visio)
- Advanced consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems.
- Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow IT colleagues, and business and other stakeholders.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
The following skills are highly desirable:
- TCSI reporting, including a deep understanding of the data underlying TCSI reporting
- Experience in integrating Campus Solutions with external systems across the entire student lifecycle
