This role is responsible for working as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) and is a clinical supervisory role in the UNSW Medicine Lifestyle Clinic. The role includes quality control, teaching and supervision of all exercise physiology student practicum placements in the UNSW Medicine & Health Lifestyle Clinic.
- Supervision and teaching of the student Exercise Physiologists and their delivery of service.
- Ensure appropriate supervisory ratio at all times in the Lifestyle Clinic. This ratio is legislation from Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and is currently 1 AEP to 5 students.
- Within available time, conduct patient consultations as well as deliver primary and secondary prevention services, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist in the oversight of general client-based work within the Lifestyle Clinic.
- Assistance with chronic disease management services and assistance in the development of improved treatment services by frequent and systematic review and evaluation of existing practices to ensure they are in-line with best clinical practice guideline.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health & safety of yourself or others.
- A degree in Exercise Science or equivalent and Exercise Physiology accreditation with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) with preferably, at least 1 year subsequent relevant experience in the field.
- Proven experience conducting patient consultations as well as delivering primary and secondary prevention services.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a small team as well as independently with minimum supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including demonstrated capacity to maintain effective professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders and from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in using Practice Management Software (PMS) and sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
