Who are we

Kingsford Legal Centre (KLC) is a community legal centre providing free legal advice and assistance to our local community and to people across New South Wales. Our team of solicitors provide advice on matters such as Domestic Violence, Credit and Debt, Victim’s Compensation, Criminal Law, Employment Law, and Discrimination Law.


Why this role matters

The Advice Night Administrator provides effective administrative support to the Monday to Thursday evening advice sessions within Kingsford Legal Centre to ensure our services are provided efficiently to meet the operating needs of KLC. This role supports KLC lawyers, volunteers and students in the delivery of high-quality legal advice in our evening clinics.

The role reports to the Centre’s Operations Manager supporting the Kingsford Legal Centre Director and Deputy.

The role works across advice clinics which take place Monday to Thursday evenings, and the ordinary hours are 3:30pm to 7:30pm.

 

Accountabilities

  • Provide high level administrative support to the Kingsford Legal Centre evening advice night sessions
  • Act as the first point of contact for clients and students, maintaining effective channels of communication, to ensure the effective operation of the evening client advice session
  • Provide effective specialist support and induction relating to administrative guidelines, processes and activities relating to legal service delivery, client document management and other KLC systems to students and volunteer solicitors
  • Respond to a range of in-person, telephone and email enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, and using sound judgment, initiate, action or escalate as necessary relating to the evening advice session
  • Undertake induction for Lawyers, Ethics and Justice students, attending the evening advice session, including WHS requirements and undertake administrative set up for the night
  • Participate in relevant projects and business improvement activities to streamline processes and facilitate administrative efficiency.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience
  • Advanced time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications / client database systems
  • Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, support and supervise students.
