  • Remuneration: Level 8 $127,351 - $143,489 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading

As part of UNSW’s Marketing & Digital Experience (MDX) portfolio, your role is central to strengthening the university’s global reputation for research excellence and societal impact. The Marketing Lead (Research) drives brand, and marketing initiatives designed to connect with Academic Researchers worldwide-amplifying UNSW’s distinctiveness, elevating our Societal Impact Framework, and supporting the ambitions of the Progress for All strategic plan.

Sitting within the Marketing & Content pillar, you will lead full-funnel brand and reputation programs that position UNSW as a global leader. Your work ensures UNSW’s research strengths are communicated with clarity and creative excellence across owned, paid and earned channels. By stewarding insights, data, content, and campaign performance, you will strengthen personalised engagement with researcher audiences, particularly in the USA and China, helping UNSW remain competitive within the global research landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead global go-to-market and reputation-building programs targeting Academic Researchers.
  • Develop and deliver integrated campaigns that showcase UNSW’s research excellence and amplify the Societal Impact Framework.
  • Build strong relationships across UNSW and with external partners to ensure alignment and support for marketing initiatives.
  • Manage creative, media, social and content collaborators to deliver high-quality, on-budget campaigns.
  • Own and optimise all researcher-facing content and communications.
  • Use data, insights and performance reporting to guide decision-making and improve campaign outcomes.
  • Present results clearly to stakeholders to support prioritisation and budget allocation.
  • Partner with Digital Marketing to enhance experiences using UNSW’s Adobe marketing stack.
  • Stay up to date with marketing trends and embed continuous improvement in all programs.
  • Manage budgets, timelines and documentation to ensure efficient, high-quality delivery.

About You:

  • You have relevant tertiary qualifications and significant experience in marketing, ideally within education, research, or other experience or knowledge-based sectors.
  • You bring experience marketing to or working with Academic Researchers, and ideally have exposure to global markets, particularly the USA and China.
  • You have deep expertise in running paid and organic campaigns, managing creative production and reporting on performance outcomes.
  • Your digital marketing capability is strong, including marketing automation, SEO, and lifecycle marketing, and you have experience with Adobe or comparable enterprise marketing platforms.
  • You excel at navigating matrixed organisations and may have experience working in Agile environments.
  • You are an exceptional communicator - able to translate data, insights and marketing results into compelling narratives for diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple projects, you thrive in fast-paced environments and deliver to tight deadlines.
