Why your role matters
The Research Associate will conduct research on a Discovery Project funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC). The project aims to develop Artificially Intelligent Companions that are able to meaningfully engage with experiences of loneliness.
Accountabilities
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Contribute independently and as a team member in collaborative research with a focus to enhance the quality of research outcomes in the field of Knowledge Representation for Skilled Digital AI Companions.
- Collaborative or independent publications in leading journals and conference proceedings in Artificial Intelligence.
- Undertake specific research projects under the guidance of a research leader and contribute to development of research activities.
- Participate in and present their work at domestic and international conferences and seminars.
- Assist with the supervision and mentoring of research students in Artificial Intelligence and its application.
- Conduct research on epistemic reasoning and planning for digital AI companions.
About You
- A PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline in a related subject in Artificial Intelligence.
- Ideally a strong publication record in Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically in the area of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning and/or related fields.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
