The Opportunity

The School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering has a key role for a Modelling & Simulation Officer. You will provide high level services in the field of multidimensional process and device simulation of single junction and tandem solar cells. In this role you will advise and conduct processes and device simulations using programs such as Synopsys Sentaurus TCAD (Technology Computer Aided Design).

This role reports to Prof Bram Hoex and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level 7: $100,331 to $108,588 per annum + 17% superannuation (pro-rated)

  • Fixed Term – 4 months
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Experience in modelling and simulating single and multijunction solar cells.
  • Experience in process simulation for silicon solar cell fabrication (e.g., diffusion).
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Sentaurus TCAD, SunSolve, and Griddler.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Proven project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.

  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
