You will be conducting independent research and delivering excellent teaching in the area of in the area of formal verification of operating systems, specifically the specification and push-button verification of operating-systems code, and combining interactive theorem proving with SMT solvers. The role of Lecturer reports to Scientia Professor Gernot Heiser and has no direct reports.
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW is one of the largest Schools of its kind in Australia with the greatest impact on society through our academic excellence in teaching, research, commercial and social engagement. The School is the largest with the Faculty of Engineering with over 3,400 students and 56 full time academic staff with an operating budget of over $20 million. CSE is undergoing a period of expansion, advertising and recruiting for over 10 new academic staff in 2021.
Our academic staff have research focus in areas including Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Image Computing, Data and Knowledge, Embedded Systems, Networked Systems and Security, Human Centred Computing, Programming Languages and Compilers, Service Oriented Computing, Theoretical Computer Science and Trustworthy Systems.
CSE offers undergraduate programs in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Bioinformatics, as well as a number of combined degrees with other disciplines. Skills & Experience
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership in the areas of programming languages, compiler technology and program analysis.
- A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
