The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at UNSW Canberra have an internationally recognised team of academics. Our research is internationally recognised and explores complex global issues, including issues directly relevant to defence and Australia’s national security.
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking scholars to teach and research in the history of Australia’s experience of war. Such work might involve an operational military focus, societal and community aspects, or some other facet of the nation’s involvement with armed conflict. Ideal candidates would further be willing and able to teach in one or more non-military history related areas.
As a member of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, you will conduct high quality research and make a significant contribution to the teaching activities of the School and will be involved in advancing the School’s international profile by conducting scholarly research, contributing to the supervision of research students, and undertake a range of teaching duties.

About the Successful Applicants
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have experience conducting classes, assessing student learning achievements, and support students in both postgraduate and undergraduate courses.
- Be able to design and develop learning activities and resources and provide assessment and feedback at both course and program level using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
- Have contributed to the review, development and/or design of curriculum and management of curriculum administration.

There is the opportunity to apply for grant funding as part of the recruitment process. Applicants deemed successful in both the recruitment process and research proposal may be eligible to be awarded a research start up grant.
