The School of Economics is one of seven schools within the Business School that comprises 40 staff from all over the world. It offers a vibrant and dynamic academic community engaged in leading edge research, innovative teaching as well as constructive community and professional engagement. The school is well known for its research in Economic Theory, Applied Economics, and Econometrics. It attracts considerable research funding from the Australian Research Council and other external bodies. It maintains strong connections with top-tier institutions world-wide and hosts many internationally renowned visitors.

The Opportunity: 

  • Level A: $98,342 - $105,185 base + 17% superannuation & leave loading
  • Full time, Fixed-term contract until December 2022
  • Location: Kensington campus, Sydney, Australia
  • Due to the current travel restrictions into Australia, we will consider applications from candidates currently residing in Australia and/or having Australian working rights.

This role will give you the opportunity to teach and support teaching-related administrative activities in the School of Economics. The focus will be on providing excellent educational experience to students in the classes in the areas of micro-economics, business and economic statistics, econometrics and evidence-based problem solving. Some courses may be taught collaboratively with other schools.  

UNSW’s Education Focussed roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education, devoting their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students.

The Associate Lecturer will report to Head of School and has no direct reports.


  • A Master or PhD degree in Economics or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
  • Demonstrated experience in and passion for teaching and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods
  • Experience engaging students and fostering independent learning through meaningful assessment and helpful feedback.
  • Evidence of and/or preparedness to undertake professional development of teaching practice
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
