Postdoctoral Fellow

Faculty of Business - School of Economics 

 

  • 2 Year Fixed Term contract (with possibility to extend) 
  • Full Time - 35 hrs/per week 
  • Level B $110,459 to $130,215 + 17% Super and Leave Loading 
  • Based at Kensington Campus- Sydney, Australia 

The Opportunity

2  X Postdoctoral Fellow positions available across 3 areas. The positions are based within the AGORA Centre for Market Design at UNSW, see https://www.agora.group/.

Position 1

The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake collaborative and self-directed research on developing novel solution concepts in game theory, including models of bounded rationality. One specific goal is to characterize the resulting solution sets using advanced mathematical techniques. A broader goal is to derive more realistic models of behaviour in strategic situations and incorporate the insights into the design of more robust institutions.

The role of Postdoctoral Fellow reports to AGORA’s Director, Scientia Professor Jacob Goeree.

Accountabilities

Specific Accountabilities for this role include:

  • Develop novel mathematical models of behaviour in strategic settings independently, and as part of a team.
  • Collaborate on testing these alternative solution concepts in controlled laboratory experiments
  • Contribute to the writing of scientific papers
  • Publish in top field and general-interest journals
  • Present research at national and international conferences
  • Assist with the coordination of research activities such as organizing workshops and minicourses
  • Perform research collaboratively and individually
  • Liaise with other investigators at AGORA and UNSW
  • Jointly supervise PhD, Honours and Masters students, as appropriate
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others

 

Position 2

 The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake collaborative and self-directed research in mechanism design, information design, or auction theory. 

The role of Postdoctoral Fellow reports to AGORA’s Director, Scientia Professor Jacob Goeree.

Accountabilities

Specific Accountabilities for this role include:

  • Perform innovative research in the areas of mechanism design, information design, auction theory independently, and as part of a team.
  • Publish in top field and general-interest journals
  • Present research at national and international conferences
  • Perform research collaboratively and individually
  • Liaise with other investigators at AGORA and UNSW
  • Jointly supervise PhD, Honours and Masters students, as appropriate
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures of the University and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others
  • Jointly supervise PhD, Honours and Masters students, as appropriate
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

 

Position 3

The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake collaborative and self-directed research in experimental economics.

The role of Postdoctoral Fellow reports to AGORA’s Director, Scientia Professor Jacob Goeree.

Accountabilities

Specific Accountabilities for this role include:

  • Perform innovative research using laboratory experiments, with an emphasis on testing behavioural models and / or testing institutions (markets, auctions, voting, etc.)
  • Publish in top field and general-interest journals
  • Present research at national and international conferences
  • Perform research collaboratively and individually
  • Liaise with other investigators at AGORA and UNSW
  • Jointly supervise PhD, Honours and Masters students, as appropriate
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
