This role will contribute to course and program delivery, development and innovation, in a team-teaching environment. It will also increase and expand the research and knowledge exchange profiles of SEIT to complement SEIT’s existing strengths. The position will work with the UNSW Cyber Institute in conducting impactful multidisciplinary research and educating the next generation of Australian leaders and scholars in this important and growing field.
The successful applicant will become a part of a community of people seeking to enhance research, teaching and engagement within the School, University and Globally. The successful applicant may develop a research focused, education focused, or balanced workload.
The School offers a flexible, friendly working environment that is well-resourced. It delivers research-informed education to undergraduate and graduate students and professionals who will be Australia’s future technology decision makers. The School’s engineering and computing education programs are accredited and globally recognised.
The engineering workplace of the future will be different from that of the past, and that future will require a broader range of people for success. The SEIT community is committed to changing the culture of engineering education by developing a more well-rounded engineer equipped with the emotional intelligence to perform in the 21st century. Creation of a new type of learning environment requires a different range of staff that can support deep technical learning while helping to develop the whole engineer. We seek out committed educators and researchers that have the knowledge, teaching skills, and empathy to strengthen that environment.
The School’s research strengths blend with its teaching disciplines to create a tightly woven environment of research-informed education. The School hosts the concentrated activities of UNSW Canberra Space, UNSW Canberra Cyber, and the UNSW Capability Systems Centre that highlight the aspiration of the School and UNSW Canberra in multidisciplinary, world-leading research and teaching.
UNSW provides a range of academic workload profiles that range from education focused to research focused and includes the traditional balanced academic. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an educational profile that incorporates classroom and on-line teaching, research and research training, social engagement and global impact, and contribution to the development of the holistic environment in the School. We want our academics to choose the range of activities that support the School’s research and teaching missions and fulfil the ambitions of the academics themselves.
We strongly encourage applications from those with traditional academic backgrounds, but we equally encourage applications from those outside academia who bring other discipline related experiences.
