This role within Infrastructure & Platform Services shapes the strategy and architecture of enterprise networking within the university. Your expertise will be instrumental in enabling our community to leverage cutting-edge network solutions effectively, ensuring that our technology initiatives align seamlessly with the university’s ambitious goals. The role reports to the Lead Platform Architect and has no direct reports.

Strategic Architecture, Governance & Planning: Shape and govern scalable, secure network architectures that translate enterprise strategy into actionable blueprints, roadmaps, and guiding principles, ensuring alignment through architecture governance.

Leadership and Innovation: As a thought leader, you will introduce and advocate for advanced network technologies and practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technological excellence.  
 
- 
Collaboration and Influence: Work closely with diverse stakeholders across the university, including product managers, solution architects, engineers, and senior executives, to ensure that networking solutions align with the broader institutional objectives.  
 
- 
Capability Building: Drive adoption of best practices, sustainable design, and responsible technology, mentoring teams along the way.  
 
 
- 
Educated and Experienced: You possess a tertiary qualification in Computer Technology or a related field, bolstered by extensive experience managing complex projects across large, diverse organisations.  
 
- 
Expert in Network Technologies: You have a deep understanding of network principles with hands-on experience across routing, switching, wireless, WAN, data centre, security, and cloud connectivity  
 
- 
Security and Performance Savvy: You are skilled at embedding security, compliance, and risk controls into network designs while optimising performance, ensuring robust and efficient systems.  
 
- 
Network Automation & Observability Advocate: Practical experience with network automation, scripting, and monitoring platforms (e.g. Ansible, Python, AI-driven observability tools), driving improvements in efficiency, resilience, and proactive issue resolution.  
 
- 
Certified Professional: Your expertise is validated by relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Juniper, AWS/Azure networking, TOGAF, ITIL) or equivalent experience affirming your technical proficiency.  
 
- 
Visionary Thought Leader: Known for your strategic vision in modern network architectures. you have a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions across complex wired, wireless, and cloud-connected environments.
