This role is platform-centric within Infrastructure & Platform Services and focuses on cloud platforms. Your expertise will be instrumental in enabling our community to leverage cutting-edge cloud solutions effectively, ensuring that our technology initiatives align seamlessly with the university’s ambitious goals. The role reports to the Lead Platform Architect and has no direct reports.
What You Will Do:
- Strategic Design, Governance & Planning: Architect scalable, secure cloud solutions that translate enterprise strategy into actionable blueprints, roadmaps, and guiding principles, ensuring alignment through architecture governance.

- Collaboration and Influence: Work closely with diverse stakeholders across the university, including product managers, solution architects, engineers, and senior executives, to ensure that cloud solutions align with the broader institutional objectives.
- Operational Excellence & Compliance: Ensure resilient, observable, and compliant designs that integrate with service processes.
- Innovation & Capability Building: Drive adoption of best practices, sustainable design, and responsible technology, mentoring teams along the way.
Who You Are:
- Educated and Experienced: You possess a tertiary qualification in Computer Technology or a related field, bolstered by extensive experience managing complex projects across large, diverse organisations.
- Expert in Cloud Technologies: Deep understanding of cloud principles with hands-on experience across AWS and Azure Cloud. Skilled in cloud-native architectures, leveraging containers (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless platforms (e.g. Lambda). Strong understanding of emerging AI technologies, including LLMs and agents.
- Experienced in delivering platform services: You use your expertise in core cloud infrastructure (networking, storage, compute) and platform services to shape foundations and guardrails that empower application teams. With a product mindset, you help create a secure, reliable platform that makes it easier to build and operate at scale.
- Security and Performance Savvy: You have a solid background in applying cloud security frameworks (e.g. CIS, CSA or other) and optimising performance, ensuring robust and efficient systems.
- DevSecOps Advocate: Proficient in DevSecOps principles and tools, including IaC platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and automated security testing, you seamlessly integrate security with development processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Proactive and self-driven: Able to manage competing priorities with initiative and focus, delivering results both autonomously and in cross-functional settings.
- Certified Professional: Your expertise is validated by relevant certifications in cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or other), affirming your technical proficiency.
- Excellent Communicator and Collaborator: Exceptional at conveying complex technical ideas to diverse audiences, you excel in fostering collaboration across functional teams.
- Visionary Thought Leader: Known for your strategic vision in multi-cloud architectures, you have a proven track record of innovative solutions in complex environments.
- Strategic Problem Solver: With strong analytical skills and a knack for strategic decision-making, you adeptly tackle technical challenges and spearhead platform innovation.
- Lifelong Learner: Committed to ongoing professional development, you stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud infrastructure.
- Business and Technical Synergist: You expertly align technical strategies with business objectives, ensuring that architectural decisions support the overall vision and strategy of the university.
