  • Remuneration: $88,717 base, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

Details of the role

The Technical Teaching Support Administrator provides effective day-to-day technical support for the delivery of teaching. The position assists academic staff by preparing and setting up for practical classes and transferring class materials and equipment between laboratories. This position supports the pharmacy teaching programme and may support other disciplines as required.

The position reports to the Technical Teaching Support Team Leader and is part of the team within UNSW Medicine & Health that supports multiple disciplines including Physiology, Pharmacology, Medicine, Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Dietetics and Nutrition. 

Some key skills required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (degree in Pharmacy or certificate III in Pharmacy) with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Assist in the set-up of experiments for practical classes, ensuring adequate materials and equipment are available and in good working condition, transferring between laboratories, as required.
  • Maintain teaching equipment and instruments, including general and specialized laboratory equipment including software and apps, carry out routine maintenance as required and arrange repairs for maintenance of specialised equipment. This includes management and maintenance of computers and software used for the teaching of pharmaceutics, compounding and dispensing.
  • Monitor levels of laboratory and teaching consumables including chemicals, glassware, instruments, and general laboratory supplies, and assist the Teaching Support Team Leader with efficient and cost-effective ordering of consumables and other specialised items in accordance with UNSW purchasing policies and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experienced in non-sterile simple compounding with experience in sterile compounding highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of preparation and supply of medicinal products in a pharmacy setting or equivalent experience. Demonstrated knowledge of legislative requirements relating to the preparation and supply of medicinal products is highly desirable.
  • Experience in assembly, repair and maintenance of Human Physiology and Exercise Physiology equipment and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in laboratory environments including safe use of laboratory equipment and materials, and ability to impart technical knowledge to others in a teaching environment.
