We’re looking for motivated and detail-oriented professionals to join our Research Strategy Office team at UNSW.

Multiple positions are available, with an engagement period of approximately 4–5 weeks, offering a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic research support environment.

About the Role

As a Compliance Officer (Level 5), you will work closely with researchers and colleagues to ensure UNSW grant applications are compliant, eligible, and submitted on time. This role requires strong attention to detail, a problem-solving mindset, and excellent communication skills to guide and support applicants and stakeholders throughout the grants process.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide accurate, reliable advice on grant eligibility, compliance, and sponsor requirements.
  • Manage end-to-end pre-award workflows, resolving issues and reviewing grant applications in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate grant records across databases and records management systems.
  • Support junior colleagues with guidance and act as the first point of contact for daily queries.
  • Uphold UNSW’s health and safety policies to ensure a safe and responsible work environment.

 

About You

We are seeking candidates who can bring expertise and initiative to this fast-paced environment. You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in research funding, program/project management, or equivalent knowledge. Experience in pre-award grant support is highly valued.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders.

  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to balance policy, governance, and compliance requirements.

  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365 and confidence in navigating information management systems.

  • Experience interpreting and applying complex policies and procedures.

  • A track record of delivering quality, client-focused services.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
