Why Your Role Matters
In this role, you will ensure timely access to materials not available in the Library’s collection by sourcing them from a wide range of national and international document suppliers. You will also be responsible for supplying items from the Library’s own collection to other libraries, contributing to resource sharing across institutions.
This position reports to the Coordinator, Collection Access, and is a key part of the team responsible for connecting users with the resources they need to succeed.
The role works across all UNSW Sydney Library locations. The role operates Monday to Friday, business hours. Due to the nature of the position, there is no remote work available.
Main responsibilities Summary
- Request and supply material for UNSW clients and for other libraries requesting UNSW material.
- Perform Interlibrary Loan (ILL) processing for clients within the University.
- Verify and authorise requests from external libraries for the supply of UNSW Library information resources.
- Supply requests within the service levels of the Australian Interlibrary Loan Resource Sharing guidelines.
- Perform bibliographic verification for requests using internal and external resources accessible via UNSW Library resources.
- Solve standard problems and refer complex/difficult problems to team supervisor.
- Use Libraries Australia and approved suppliers to obtain requested information resources for UNSW Library clients.
- Communicate with ILL departments and commercial organisations nationally and internationally to secure supply of requested material for internal and external clients.
- Collect and collate statistics as required, including where statistics cannot be automatically generated.
- Contribute to the user experience by proactively identifying workflow problems to constantly improve and streamline the processes and service.
Who You Are
We are looking for someone who is aligned with UNSW’s vision and values, who enjoys working with collections and supporting student experience.
- TAFE qualification or higher relevant experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in electronic information delivery, document supply, or client services in an academic library or equivalent environment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and professional skills, including the ability to engage positively and maturely with clients in writing and oral communications.
