The Liverpool Study Hub is a community-driven space designed for students, from any public institution, to support their academic journey into and throughout their tertiary education; offering study spaces, learning support and wellbeing services in their local community.

Supported by the Australian Government and UNSW through the Suburban University Study Hubs Program, this initiative works to support educational access, foster community partnerships, and increase tertiary attainment in one of Sydney’s most diverse and rapidly growing regions.

Why your Role Matters:
The Hub Manager is a pivotal role overseeing the effective day-to-day management of the Liverpool Study Hub, ensuring the delivery of operational excellence and high-impact outcomes aligned with the program’s mission to improve access and boost success in higher education.

You will lead the transformative journey of bringing the study hub from concept to reality, using your expertise oversee Hub staff, budget management, performance reporting and tracking of key metrics to drive continuous improvement. Cultivating and maintaining partnerships with local organisations, education providers and community stakeholders to enhance student outcomes and engagement.

Your day-to-day focus will include:

  • Designing and delivering the Hub’s strategic plan to ensure impactful student engagement and outcomes.
  • Overseeing practical operational management.
  • Leading a multidisciplinary team-including a First Nations & Community Lead, Student Support Officers and Academic Advisor, leveraging their deep technical and professional expertise to ensure the initiative’s success.
  • Ensuring full compliance with operational and grant-related requirements, including management of financial frameworks aligned with funding obligations.
  • Performance reporting and tracking of key metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The role of Hub Manager reports to Pro Vice Chancellor, Precincts and has up to six direct reports to deliver inclusive, high-impact educational services tailored to Liverpool’s unique needs.

Who You Are:
Looking to move into your next operations role,you will bring a unique ability to balance operational priorities and mobilise stakeholders, alongside the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated strategic leadership in managing community hubs, education centres, or service-oriented programs with a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver outcomes aligned with program priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a strong customer service orientation and the ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven success in cultivating and maintaining relationships with government agencies, education providers and community organisations.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement, creativity and flexibility in navigating complex challenges and driving innovation.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering programs that enhance student engagement, wellbeing and academic success, particularly within equity-focused or access-oriented initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management and compliance frameworks, including experience in conducting risk assessments, responding to internal audit recommendations and leading business continuity planning.
  • Understanding of best practice planning and project management tools and approaches to develop and communicate strategy and track progress.
