Why your role matters

The Marketing & Digital Experience team at UNSW plays a dual role in strengthening student recruitment and enhancing the university’s global brand reputation. The team positions UNSW as the first choice for both local and international students while showcasing the university’s world-class expertise and distinct brand identity.

The International Recruitment Channel Lead is a key role driving the implementation of UNSW’s global education strategy. This position leads the development and delivery of recruitment, marketing, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that support the channel-led International Recruitment Strategy. It oversees the design and execution of channel-specific strategies across direct enrolments, agents, sponsors, high schools, transnational education (including articulations), and study abroad. Working closely with regional market teams, the role ensures each strategy is tailored to maximise channel effectiveness within local market contexts.

A major focus of the role is to build and manage strategic partnerships with international institutions, education providers, agents, and industry stakeholders to drive growth, diversity, and quality in student enrolments. The position also leads cross-functional collaboration to strengthen UNSW’s global brand presence and extend its international reach.

The International Recruitment Channel Lead works closely with colleagues across the Marketing & Digital Experience portfolio, the Office of Global Affairs, Admissions, faculties, and central teams to ensure recruitment activity aligns with institutional priorities, market insights, and partner engagement strategies. This position reports to the Senior International Channel Partnerships Lead and manages a team of four direct reports.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

  • Drive achievement of international student enrolment targets and cohort diversity objectives through targeted recruitment, marketing, and conversion initiatives, including collaborating with regional market teams to embed channel strategies and sales excellence contextualised to their regions.
  • Support the development and implementation of the annual Agent Channel Strategy, including supporting the design and delivery of the Agent Incentive Scheme, performance tracking, and partner engagement initiatives.
  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of recruitment activity across International High Schools, including outreach, events, and relationship management to drive undergraduate international enrolments, including supporting the development of regional-specific high school engagement strategies.

About You:

  • A relevant tertiary education with extensive experience in student recruitment, marketing, or partnership management, or an equivalent level of industry knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and experience.
  • Significant experience in business sales and/or marketing, strategy development and execution with a proven track record of leading successful sales and engagement initiatives, preferably in a higher education and/or international sales context.
  • Strong commercial acumen in a KPI driven sales/marketing context with an ability to set targets, plan complex work plans with competing priorities and review return on investment of activity.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing high-performing teams, with demonstrated ability to inspire, develop, and support staff to achieve strategic goals.
  • Strong people leadership skills including performance management, coaching, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and relationship development skills, with a demonstrated track record of fostering and maintaining strong and successful internal and external networks, including across diverse cultural and organisational contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic outcomes with pragmatic short-term requirements to deliver successful outcomes with momentum.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and provide strategic advice and operational support to senior executives, as appropriate, to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience working in a complex matrix organisational environment.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity, persuasion, and audience relevance.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with proven attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Knowledge of global education trends, transnational education models, and lifelong learning frameworks is highly desirable.
