UNSW Medicine & Health   is a national leader in learning, teaching and research, with close affiliations to several of Australia’s finest hospitals, research institutes and health care organisations. With a strong presence at UNSW Kensington campus, the faculty have staff and students in teaching hospitals in Sydney as well as regional and rural areas of NSW including Albury/Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie. 

 

Why this role matters  

The ePortfolio Educational Designer/Technologist works collaboratively with academic and professional staff to support the implementation of the Faculty of Medicine & Health’s new ePortfolio platform (Risr). The position will support the initial deployment of the platform in the School of Health Sciences and the staged roll out of Risr across the Faculty.

In this exciting new role, you will use the Risr platform in areas such as accreditation, workplace-based assessment, programmatic assessment, and tracking student progress. The role is based in the brand new UNSW Health Translation Hub.

The role of ePortfolio Educational Designer/Technologist reports to the Manager, Medicine & Health Education Development Unit (MHEDU) and has no direct reports.

 

Skills & Experience required

(Selection Criteria)

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in technology-enabled learning, teaching and/or curriculum for higher education; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of ePortfolio platforms (preferably Risr) in areas such as accreditation, workplace-based assessment, programmatic assessment, and student progress mapping and tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with teaching staff to design and develop appropriate forms, templates and reports using an ePortfolio platform.
  • Demonstrated experience in piloting new educational technologies, implementing workflows and processes to roll out the technology more broadly, and evaluating the effectiveness of the technology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects with proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in organising, designing, delivering and evaluating professional development workshops for staff in both face-to-face and online formats, including the development of resources and guides to support self- directed learning.
  • Proven technical support and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to exercise initiative to develop innovative solutions while maintaining effective collaborative professional relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent digital skills in using the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams and Power Platform (Power BI, Automate, Apps). Demonstrated use of Power Apps for teaching contexts would be highly regarded.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
