Research Assistant (Oocyte Biology Research Unit)
- Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
- Duration: 1 Year Fixed Term contract
- Remuneration: $88,717 base (+ 17% Super, leave loading)

Why this role matters
This position will support ongoing investigations and carry out specific experiments in the field of ovarian biology and embryology. They will provide a high level of expertise and support for a variety of research projects within the broader Oocyte Biology Research Unit, including conducting research under supervision and with limited supervision.
The Oocyte Biology Research Unit aims to focus on the mechanisms mediating oocyte quality and embryo development. The group is also fully incorporated within the Royal Hospital for Women’s Fertility & Research Centre (FRC), providing seamless access to clinical services and clinical research material.
Some key skills required:
- A university degree in Science, Health Science or related discipline (including a research component, such as honours), or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience.
- Previous professional experience in a laboratory environment, with practical techniques and knowledge of oocytes/embryos and molecular biology.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, with evidence of ability to accurately plan, execute and document experimental research.
- Excellent time management and recordkeeping skills and an ability to meet deadlines.
- Previous experience in handling biological fluids and preferably experience in mouse handling, experimentation and dissection.
- Previous experience in administrative processes involved in ordering, ethics, and laboratory management.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility in hours of work where required when working on experiments, and willingness to travel off-campus.
