The Opportunity

  • Position: Full-time (35 hrs week), fixed term contract (Sept 2025 – June 2027)
  • Salary: $127,351 – $143,489 + 17% super + leave loading
  • Location: UNSW Paddington Campus

This unique opportunity is designed to support artists and creatives—from fields such as fashion, media, design, policy, and the built environment—in developing the business and entrepreneurial skills needed to turn their ideas into viable ventures. As part of the UNSW Founders team, the Community Manager will play a key role in nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship within the Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) faculty by designing and delivering programs for students, staff, and alumni.

Working closely with leaders across ADA and the UNSW Founders team, you will provide mentorship, resources, and guidance to early-stage entrepreneurs and help bridge the gap between creative ambition and commercial success including the development and delivery of engaging and educational content that will enable knowledge upskilling, in both co-curricular and curricular settings. The role also involves supporting emerging ventures like Radiant Jelly,, a company founded by Professor John McGhee that uses 4D volumetric AI to create real-time, photorealistic experiences.  

The Community Manager will work collaboratively with other members of UNSW Founders and the leaders of UNSW ADA. The role, reports to the Senior Manager, Curiosity and has no direct full-time reports. The role will build on the reputation of UNSW as a leading university for entrepreneurship and has the potential to create a positive impact on thousands of people.

Who you are

You have a relevant tertiary qualification and or equivalent experience in entrepreneurship fundamentals and methodologies, lean startup processes, and the startup and innovation community. You’ll also be able to demonstrate a track record of fostering engagement and educational growth through communities of practice.

You bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, creative and strategic thinking, and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset. Your interpersonal skills enable you to connect easily with a wide range of people, and you’re confident in designing and delivering effective skill-building programs. Highly organised, you manage competing priorities and projects effectively, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in fast-paced environments. You take initiative to enhance program delivery, work well both independently and collaboratively, and are committed to UNSW’s mission, values, and policies. You also understand your health and safety responsibilities and commitment to maintaining relevant training in this area.
