The Project Officer - Marketing and PR plays a key role within the Future You program team in providing practical and efficient project support for marketing and PR functions. The role primarily entails developing communications and marketing materials and undertaking marketing activities along with providing general project coordination and support such as on location and virtual event support, reporting and analytical duties, maintaining key internal and external relationships, producing program resources and providing administrative support for the Future You program and projects.

The Future You program aims to shift perceptions about who belongs in STEM education and careers among all students aged 8 – 12 years, their teachers, and their parents and carers via two core objectives: 1: Inspire girls and children from other underrepresented backgrounds and identities to pursue STEM careers by challenging stereotypes and communicating that STEM is for everyone; and 2: Raise awareness of the range of exciting STEM skilled career opportunities available by providing real life examples of people working in STEM careers, and showing the different career pathways students can take.

About the role

  • LEVEL 6 - $100k - $107k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Fixed Term – 2 years, 6 months (until 31 December 2027)
  • Part-time (17.5 hours per week)

The role reports to the Program Manager, Hilary Schubert-Jones and has no direct reports.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans and materials to further the reach of the Future You program in conjunction with the wider team
  • Support the delivery of Future You events and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals
  • Support the development of project plans and schedules and participate in planning processes as required
  • Monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects
  • Provide practical and proactive project support and administrative services to project team and stakeholders
  • Assess and monitor project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable
  • Coordinate project administration including coordination of workshops and meetings, minute taking, manage assigned actions and follow-ups and project status reporting
  • Develop and manage effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project • Support adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development.
  • Support the delivery of educational resources via realisation and input to improvements
  • Ensure all media content meets relevant style standards and brand requirements
  • Monitor and report on content metrics to determine effectives of activities. Develop solutions to improve performance and engagement
  • Identify opportunities to promote and further the reach of the program
  • Engage in priority outreach and engagement events, including interstate travel as required.
  • Undertake any reasonable direction to assist delivery or development of the program
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct
  • Cooperate with all health & safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the psychosocial or physical health and safety of yourself or others.

 About the successful applicant
(Selection Criteria)

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Experience in contributing to marketing plans and activities for a public facing organisation or project
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications such as Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
