About the Role
The Director of Estate Management (EM) Operations supports and advises on the strategic and operational activities of the business. Working closely with the Chief Property Officer (CPO), the role provides guidance on operational matters and evaluates frameworks and processes to identify improvement opportunities, while offering high-level strategic support to the EM Executive Team.
Reporting to the CPO, the successful applicant will possess and have experience in:
- Lead and contribute to the successful delivery of the Estate Management strategy through effective collaboration and engagement within the Estate Management Executive Team (EMET), to align initiatives with divisional and S25 and Future Campus priorities and ensure information on purpose, progress and outcomes are communicated.
- Deliver high quality, strategic advice and information to the Chief Property Officer, and EMET on governance, policy, processes and services.
- Responsible for ensuring effective governance processes and procedures are in place for the efficient management and operation of Estate Management.
- Take a leadership role in identifying innovative opportunities to improve EM performance and ensure implementation strategies are developed and effectively delivered to promote a high-performance team culture.
- Lead change management initiatives, programs and projects across EM.
- Research and prepare strategic advice, information and reports on diverse and complex policy, planning and operational matters to facilitate informed decision making and planning for the Division.
- Effectively collaborate with the Leadership team and the operations team to build an efficient, client and customer focussed, capable, agile organisation with a shared and united strategic direction.
- Build collaborative relationships and maintain a high level of stakeholder engagement and understanding across the Division Operations and wider UNSW to ensure internal units are aligned and supported in achieving EM’s strategic and operational activities.
- Ensure resources in all areas of responsibility are planned, managed and developed efficiently and effectively, aligned with strategy and with the aim of building long term capacity.
- Lead and support the operations team to ensure reports, policy documents and proposals are well researched and effectively communicated.
- Use superior interpersonal communication skills to anticipate the requirements of the Chief Property Officer to maintain executive stakeholder relationships, while exercising discretion and confidentiality.
- Act as an escalation point to the CPO on professional services and governance matters.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational advice to deliver successful outcomes in a complex and diverse environment.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills including the ability to synthesize complex issues, develop clear strategies and policies, offer well-researched and actionable advice and solutions, often in a confidential environment and deliver robust outcomes.
- Demonstrated advanced interpersonal and communication skills, negotiation and influencing expertise, strong networking capability, and personal and professional credibility.
- Sound judgement, ability to exercise initiative, tact, and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
- Outstanding stakeholder and relationship management skills, and application to foster and maintain strong and lasting internal and external networks across differing stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of the higher education environment
- Demonstrated success designing and delivering strategies, programs and initiatives.
- Advance organisational and project management skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
