The Marketing & Digital Experience team at UNSW strengthens marketing and student recruitment efforts, positioning the university as the top choice for local and international students. The Undergraduate Student Recruitment Lead develops and implements strategies to attract undergraduate coursework students, ensuring enrolment and diversity targets are met.
Leading the Future Student Domestic Undergraduate Squad, this role oversees key recruitment initiatives, including the UNSW High School Recruitment Strategy and the end-to-end delivery of UNSW Open Day, the university’s largest annual event. Acting as the primary liaison with domestic high schools, the Lead manages relationships with key stakeholders such as careers advisers and identifies emerging trends to enhance recruitment efforts.
Additionally, this role oversees the UNSW Student Ambassador Program, managing a pool of over 100 student ambassadors to support recruitment activities. Reporting to the Associate Director, Future Student Recruitment, the Lead has two direct reports and plays a pivotal role in shaping UNSW’s domestic undergraduate recruitment strategy.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Lead the development and execution of UNSW’s Undergraduate Student Recruitment Strategy, ensuring enrolment and diversity targets are met.
- Oversee the Domestic Undergraduate Cohort, acting as Squad Lead to manage key workstreams, expand domestic pathways, and align marketing and recruitment efforts.
- Provide market insights, contribute to strategic planning, and represent the Associate Director, Future Student Recruitment, in key committees and working groups.
- Develop and implement an annual recruitment calendar, driving outreach initiatives with the Student Equity team while tracking impact and ROI.
About You:
- A relevant degree with extensive experience in sales/recruitment and marketing strategy, or an equivalent level of industry knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and experience.
- Significant experience in business sales, strategy development and execution.
- Strong commercial acumen in a KPI driven sales/marketing context with an ability to set targets, plan complex work plans with competing priorities and review return on investment of activity.
- Advanced stakeholder management and relationship development skills, with a demonstrated track record of fostering and maintaining strong and successful internal and external networks, as well as the ability to lead, manage and motivate individuals and teams.
- Previous faculty experience within a university context, while not essential, is highly desirable.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the proven ability to articulate information clearly and succinctly with experience delivering public presentations to groups of any size.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic outcomes with pragmatic short-term requirements to deliver successful outcomes with momentum.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and provide strategic advice and operational support to senior executives, as appropriate, to ensure successful outcomes.
- Excellent collaboration skills and experience working in a complex matrix organisational environment.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with proven attention to accuracy and detail.
- Higher Education and premium brand experience across local and international markets is highly desirable.
