The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering has a continuing (permanent) opportunity for an Executive Officer. This integral role within the Faculty provides dedicated and strategic executive support to the Faculty Executive Team and other key stakeholders. The position involves offering strategic advice on suitable governance structures to facilitate effective decision-making and ensure compliance with UNSW requirements. As an Executive Officer, you will play a vital role in both strategic and operational projects, significantly contributing to the achievement of the Faculty’s strategic goals.

This role reports to the Faculty Executive Director and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level 9: $143,007 to $151,744 per annum + 17% superannuation

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven skills and experience in strategic and resource planning within higher education, goal setting and project management.
  • Superior written and verbal presentation skills with proven experience in producing reports, proposals, communications materials and facilitating discussions or sessions.
  • Demonstrated success designing and delivering university strategies, programs and initiatives.
  • Ability to apply judgement, creativity and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches and to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and train staff, to establish priorities and manage competing deadlines for self and others.
  • Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy, working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft 365, social channels and platforms.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
