Why Your Role Matters:

The Post-Doctoral Fellow will focus on developing and applying mathematical models to analyse hepatitis C transmission. This role involves evaluating simplified diagnostic and treatment pathways within healthcare settings and among key populations. The Fellow will conduct thorough analyses of model outputs to estimate the population-level impact and cost-effectiveness of public health interventions for hepatitis C. Collaboration will be essential, as the position entails working closely with Australian health departments, community organizations, and other stakeholders to inform and enhance public health strategies.

This position is within the Mathematical Epidemiology and Evaluation Research Group part of the Surveillance and Evaluation Research Program and reports to Richard Gray.

Skills and Experience:

  • A PhD in computational modelling, biostatistics, or a relevant field. Knowledge of hepatitis C or other blood borne viruses will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated infectious disease modelling experience and the ability to conduct high quality academic research independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong skills in data management, software development, and version control systems with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values i action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
