The Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to revolutionise carbon science and innovation for renewable energy generation and clean chemical production by using carbon catalysts as alternatives to critical minerals. In this role, you will be working on a project that aims to revolutionise renewable energy generation and clean chemical production by using carbon catalysts as alternatives to critical minerals and/or new catalysis pathways.

This role reports to the Professor Liming Dai and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level A - $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed-term contract – Initially for one year with a possible extension
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

The ARC-supported project aims to revolutionise renewable energy generation and clean chemical production by using carbon catalysts as alternatives to critical minerals and/or new catalysis pathways. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds with a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and relevant fields.

This position is based within the School of Chemical Engineering that is well known in the industry as a top provider of quality education and cutting-edge research. We’re ranked 13th in the world and 1st in Australia by the NTU Ranking of Scientific Papers. Our aim is to deliver the best we possibly can to the future of Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry and Food Science and Technology. Skills & Experience

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
