Why this role matters:

The Research Associate will join the Population Child Health Clinical Research Group at UNSW's School of Clinical Medicine, focusing on enhancing research quality and funding to improve child and adolescent health globally.

The role emphasizes mixed methods implementation evaluation of paediatric healthcare models, including the PEACH study, which aims to improve access for priority populations within the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, and the MRFF-funded Transition Compass study, which evaluates a model to facilitate the transition from paediatric to adult services.

Reporting to the Professor and Head of the Research Group, the Research Associate will contribute to advancing both studies.

Skills Required:

  • A PhD in health-services research, public health or children’s health with appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training and/or professional accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative research methods.
  • Competency in basic statistical analysis.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Experience submitting ethics and research governance applications.
  • An understanding of basic equity-based research.
  • Proven initiative and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to work both independently and part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and levels of seniority.
  • Proven high level organisational skills, including the ability to establish priorities, time management, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Previous research/administrative experience at an appropriate level.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
