Employment type:  Full time, 35hrs 
Duration: Fixed term for a period of up to 12 months  
Remuneration: Level A from $88,290 to $117,718 plus 17% Superannuation 
Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

Why Your Role Matters:
The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) provides a dynamic and well-resourced environment for research and education as part of its globally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, project management, space, explosive ordnance  and capability development. As a Research Associate, you’ll contribute to a funded project focused on Hypersonic Boundary Layer Transition. Your tasks will include theoretical and numerical modelling, publication writing, and data analysis. Join us in advancing our understanding of hypersonic flow conditions!

Who You Are (skills and experience): 
Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD in Applied Mathematics or in an area related to Fluid mechanics.
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct innovative and independent research in a relevant area.
  • A demonstrated ability to write reports and preferably a record of papers in high quality journals and/or
  • conferences of high ranking in the field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills appropriate for interacting effectively
  • team members, collaborators and colleagues across the Faculty.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team showing initiative and taking
  • direction as appropriate to the situation.

Eligibility: 
The successful candidate will be required to undertake pre-employment checks prior to commencement in this role. The checks that will be undertaken are listed in the Position Description. The successful candidate will be required to work from the UNSW Canberra campus. To be successful you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. UNSW is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
