The Opportunity

  • Full-time (35 hrs week)|2 year fixed-term contract |Hybrid/Flexible working

This role supports the recruitment and admission of Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates into industry PhD programs; you’ll manage administration, interpret complex policies and procedures and provide advice to HDR applicants, enrolled candidates, supervisors, and the UNSW community.  Working across multiple systems, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvement and streamlining. Additionally, you’ll support the Admissions and Scholarships team with administration of strategic agreements and scholarship stipends.

This position reports to the HDR Admissions and Scholarships Manager and has a dotted line to the Senior Program Manager (Industry).

Higher Degree Research (HDR) Industry engagement provides HDR candidates the opportunities to apply skills to real-world problems, enrich their candidature with professional development and workforce preparation, and build professional networks that can broaden their career prospects.  Current programs include Trailblazer & National Industry Programs.

About the successful applicant

You have a relevant tertiary qualification and or work experience, and can demonstrate your time management and organisational skills, ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.

You’ll also be able to demonstrate your experience interpreting complex policies, procedures and legislation in order to provide clear and accurate advice and deliver effective customer service and support to stakeholders at all levels in a complex, changing environment.

High-level computer skills including MS Excel, ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team but also take initiative and work independently will also be critical, as well as commitment to UNSW’s policies and health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities.
