Why Your Role Matters:      

Estate Management (EM) provides a range of services and advice to all Faculties and Divisions on the Kensington campus as well as the sub-campuses. It does this by providing campus planning, infrastructure planning, development, construction, refurbishment, maintenance, security and environmental management. EM also provides a wide range of logistic and associated services to ensure a safe and secure campus environment.

This newly created role will report to the Senior Safety Manager as we continue to drive safety improvement initiatives across UNSW. In a dynamic and fast paced environment you will partner with our senior leaders and their teams to provide support, guidance and coaching aligned to our safety management systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Safety Manager in the development and execution of the safety strategy and across EM.  
  • Lead safety projects across Estate Management and as a key safety stakeholder for UNSW projects with a current focus on contractor management.
  • Support Estate Management teams in managing contractors throughout the contractor life cycle including reviewing safety documentation.
  • Report to relevant regulatory agencies as applicable. 
  • Lead complex ICAM investigations and implement strategic risk mitigation strategies working with key stakeholders across UNSW and external regulatory bodies.
  • Lead contractor assurance activities and audit schedules. 

Who You Are:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety or similar with a minimum of 7 years experience as a safety professional in a complex organisation.
  • Experience working in a previous role supporting teams to comply with the contractor management lifecycle and contractor management system experience is highly desired.
  • Experience in project management and implementation of systems.
  • High level consultation and interpersonal skills to build strong professional relationships and influence others to achieve high levels of compliance in Safety.
  • Extensive knowledge in managing incidents involving contractors and high risk work activities
  • Experience in audits and assurance activities.
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Skilled in developing practical strategies and coordinating/facilitating initiatives to reduce risks of incidents and research, plan, implement, and resolve health and safety issues.
