Post-Doctoral Fellow (Paediatric Psycho-Oncology), multiple positions available

  • Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week), one is Part-Time (28 hours a week)
  • Duration: 1-Year Fixed Term
  • Remuneration: $85K - $113K base (+ 17% Superannuation and leave loading)
  • Visa: Full working rights for the duration of the contract will be required
  • Location: Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, Sydney

The Organisation

The discipline of Paediatrics & Child Health  leads the delivery of educational and research activities aimed at the maintenance of child and adolescent health from the neonatal period until 18 years of age. Whilst primarily based at the Randwick Health and Innovation Precinct, our research and education networks span the nation and internationally. We teach undergraduate students at many other campuses within New South Wales. We are very fortunate to have strong partnerships with many health districts such as Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, South Eastern Sydney, South Western Sydney, Murrumbidgee and Albury Wodonga Local Health Districts. 

Why this role matters  

This researcher will work within the Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU). The BSU is a research group within the Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children's Hospital and the School of Clinical Medicine, UNSW. The role will be expected to contribute to the research efforts of UNSW and to develop their research expertise as it aligns with BSU defined paediatric psycho-oncology projects.

Who you are:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative, qualitative and/or mixed methods research, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
