This role is based in the UNSW Faculty of Engineering, Australia’s largest engineering faculty, and ranked one of the top 50 in the world.

Why Your Role Matters:
The Faculty of Engineering is seeking an Engagement and Communications Officer to provide proactive marketing and communication support across the schools of Mechanical Engineering, Minerals and Energy Resources and Computer Science Engineering.

We have a newly created opportunity to support three Schools in furthering their reputations of excellence and increasing their engagement with existing and prospective students, alumni and the broader community.

This role will be involved in content creation across several platforms including, social media, websites and newsletters. Joining a unique and agile team, you will enjoy a varied workload helping to communicate engaging research stories, impressive achievements, and promoting and co-ordinating events from the Schools.  Reporting to the Division of External Engagement Manager for Engineering, you will also ensure content aligns with UNSWs brand guidelines and collaborate with the Faculty and wider University.


  • Develop content to promote key school messaging in line with UNSW branding.
  • Liaise with Division of External Engagement to provide advice to school staff relating to events as well as digital media processes, guidelines, and activities in line with broader UNSW policy.
  • Create regular high-quality content and news updates for both internal and external online platforms by working closely and proactively with academic staff.
  • Work closely with the Faculty External Engagement Team to support academic and professional staff with website updates.
  • Coordinate events for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work on projects to promote the School, including development of marketing collateral, enhancing the School’s social media presence, outreach and visibility amongst key stakeholder groups such as high school students.

Who you are:
The successful candidate will enjoy a varied workload. Working across three schools they will be adaptable, enjoy building new relationships and relish the opportunity to broaden their skillset.

  • You will hold tertiary qualifications. or equivalent experience, with existing experience in communications or marketing
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service experience
  • Demonstrated experience content creation for online platforms
    (LinkedIn, Facebook and Yammer as well as website copy in a professional setting)
  • Demonstrated success in event coordination & promotion.
