An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Multi-qubit Device Physicist to work with our world leading atom-based quantum computing team. This position is funded by Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Limited (SQC), an Australian Research and Development company with a focused goal of making quantum computers a reality. SQC is co-located at UNSW Sydney with the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T or Centre), one of Australia’s elite research organisations conducting globally-leading research in atomic electronics and quantum computing with the specific aim of building a quantum computer based on atom-qubits in silicon.
SQC is expanding and seeking a Multi-qubit Device Physicist to work closely with senior hardware, software and processing engineers to realise quantum processors in silicon ensuring high-fidelity control and measurement of multi-qubit devices at cryogenic temperatures.
This is a prestigious position within a dynamic and highly collaborative research and development environment. The successful applicant will join the world-leading team led by Professor Michelle Simmons, who has an international reputation for pioneering radical new atomic scale fabrication technology. The group is poised to scale to 10-qubit architectures by 2023 and 100-qubit architectures within the decade.

- $110K - $153K plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading

This prestigious R&D position will provide an ambitious researcher with a globally unique opportunity to measure multi-qubit devices in silicon for scalable quantum computing. We are seeking a candidate with experience in low noise cryogenic measurement to design, measure, and optimise electronics relevant to the development of a silicon-based quantum computer. The role will undertake the latest in benchmarking technology of qubit characteristics.
The research includes the development of experimental set-ups and electronics used in high-frequency multi-qubit experiments for the detection and control of individual spins in silicon, controlling the coupling between them, and the coherent entanglement of quantum information.
The Multi-qubit Device Physicist will report to Professor Michelle Simmons and work alongside other staff and students funded by SQC as well as the Centre and may assist where necessary with the supervision of other team members. This position provides a unique opportunity to work within a truly multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers working at the very forefront of quantum computing internationally.
