The Opportunity

The Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering is internationally recognised for its international contributions by highly experienced academic staff who offer a high-quality educational experience and dedicated researchers who conduct world class research and have made astounding breakthroughs. 

Biological microfluidics is the use of microfluidic technology to regulate the cell microenvironment to support the growth and differentiation of specific cell types such as stem cells. The goal of this research is to study the structure and functions of cells, as well as to develop new microfluidic technologies for manufacturing cells. The Postdoctoral Fellow will develop microfluidic devices for the growth, differentiation, and genetic modification of stem cells for applications such as cell and gene therapy.

  • Salary Level B: $107,210- 126,386+ 9.5% 
  • 6 Month fixed term contract  
  • Full time- 35hr/per week 
  • Location: Kensington Campus – Sydney, Australia

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Conduct research in the area of biological microfluidics and stem cell biology independently and as part of a team, including leading some areas of the project where the opportunity arises and where appropriate.
  • Disseminates research results through writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals and progress reporting to other researchers and industry partners.
  • Participates in the definition of research directions and actively contributes to the coordination of research activities and research outputs to meet project milestones.
  • Independently seek and apply for external funding opportunities to grow and enhance the research project
  • Participate in and/or present at conferences and/or workshops relevant to the project as required.
  • Joint supervision of honours and HDR students.
  • Prepare reports for industrial collaborators
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
