The Opportunity

You will conduct research to develop novel techniques to suppress matrix cracking of polymeric composites for low temperature applications.

The role reports to Professor Chun Wang and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, $95,449 - $126,386 + superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed-term contract – 6 months
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Selection Criteria

  • PhD in mechanical engineer, polymeric composites or related area.
  • Able to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Strong track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Able to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervisor honours and postgraduate research students.
  • Experience in the areas of polymeric composites and manufacturing carbon fibre reinforced composites using resin infusion and liquid moulding, and filament winding will be highly desirable.
  • Experience in research project management.
  • Knowledge and experience in effectively applying advanced computational and/or experimental methods in engineering research.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities
