About the role

Estate Management (EM) provides a range of services and advice to all Faculties and Divisions on all campuses (excluding Canberra). It does this by providing campus planning, infrastructure planning, development, construction, refurbishment, maintenance and environmental management.

The Project Manager (Infrastructure), Property Management will undertake independent management and coordination of substantial and broad ranging Estate Improvement infrastructure projects (small to large size projects) generated from within the portfolio of Property Management. They will also provide detailed project reporting and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. The Project Manager will ensure all projects are completed in accordance with the approved brief, budget and program and align with UNSW and Estate Management (EM) strategic intent.

Responsibilities also include the following:

  • Prepare and capture services infrastructure project briefs, liaise with Facilities Management Staff throughout the Estate Improvement planning, design, tender and construction phases to ensure projects are deliverable and through the documentation, tender and construction phases to ensure that agreed brief requirements are met;
  • Manage the planning, documentation, tender and construction of services infrastructure projects, including the management of projects with substantial budgets and to ensure these projects are delivered in accordance with the approved brief, on time and within budget;

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent / related experience in managing design and delivery of services infrastructure projects in a complex diverse environment; experience in HV/LV and HVAC projects desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in complex and demanding planning and project management work with strict time/budget constraints, particularly within a major corporate or institutional environment;
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in contract administration, resulting in the ability to form concise judgments concerning contract variations, time claims, contractor performance and other related issues;
  • Outstanding organisational skills and demonstrated ability to define and manage project timelines, actions and critical paths to keep projects moving forward productively and efficiently;
  • Financial management experience on complex projects including budget management;
  • Effective leadership capabilities in a team environment and a demonstrated capacity to establish and build relationships;Previous experience in the Tertiary Education Sector, Major Hospital, health system or public infrastructure sectors is desirable;
