The Business Development Team, within the Knowledge Exchange Unit, Division of Enterprise is focused on identifying new partners and opportunities for UNSW technologies, research and development, innovation and broader capability to achieve the University's knowledge exchange goals as part of the University's 2025 Strategy.  

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Intellectual Property Manager and Contracts Manager, this newly-created role will provide administration and coordination support to the Knowledge Exchange team, particularly in relation to commercialisation and business development activity. You will also provide project management support and maintain contract and Intellectual Property (IP) management systems.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Administration for patent management and contract management functions
  • Maintain systems and databases such as Sophia (patents and contracts management), Shared Mailboxes, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Intranet and Shared Drives
  • Support execution of standard template agreements with clients
  • Support compliance with processes and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate content and maintain currency of website 

About the successful applicant

You can demonstrate your experience providing high-level administrative support to a dynamic business development/sales team. Specific criteria include:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or a minimum of 18 months’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to utilise lateral thinking when dealing with high  volume or highly sensitive correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with projects and deliver outcomes that meet business needs
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders and work collaboratively in a  team environment
  • Experience with intellectual property/patent management and contract management highly desirable
