Following extensive scientific research at UNSW’s Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT Centre) patented technologies have been developed to turn discarded products and containers into new, high-value and reusable materials. 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the UNSW Microfactories Steering Committee, comprising senior representatives from the Division of Enterprise and the Faculty of Science, you will guide the commercialisation of UNSW recycling technologies from the UNSW SMaRT Centre.

This hands-on role will lead a small team of 3 (two Engineers and a Business Development Manager) to deliver key operational and commercial outcomes, as well as develop a business strategy and resourcing recommendations beyond the end of 2019. There is significant public, industry and government interest in recycling technologies from the SMaRT Centre and a key aspect of this role is evaluating opportunities, setting priorities and managing stakeholder relationships to deliver outcomes.

About the Successful Applicant

You can demonstrate your executive leadership experience in waste recycling or manufacturing sector including developing proof of concept, as well as experience influencing a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve consensus and delivering commercially sustainable outcomes.  Please view the position description for specific selection criteria.
