At UNSW Art & Design the emphasis is on experimentation and exploration, fostering collaboration across science, engineering, the humanities and social sciences. This role is a key liaison point between the Division of External Relations and the Faculty of Art & Design.

About the role

  • $119K-$126K plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

Reporting into The Division of External Relations led by the Vice-President (External Relations) this important role will sit within the Faculty of Art & Design has four key components:

  • To support the Faculty leadership team to identify the external relations priorities for the year ahead, within the framework of a 3-5-year strategy for the Faculty and for the University overall
  • To oversee the implementation of the Faculty’s External Relations planned activity for the year, escalating issues relating to future student recruitment and global partnerships to the relevant senior lead within the Division of External Relations
  • To directly manage and deliver the Faculty’s communications plans and key strategic events, as well as responding effectively to opportunities as they arise throughout the course of the year
  • To establish the effective operation of small External Relations Team based in the Faculty, ensuring the External Relations’ function meets the needs of the Faculty and is consistent with the External Relations strategy and ‘ways of working’ set centrally

The role of Communications Manager reports to the Division of External Relations’ Senior Business Partner with a dotted reporting line to the Faculty Executive Director, Art & Design and has 1 direct report (Events Manager) and 1 indirect report (Student Recruitment Officer).

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in the creative industries in a similar role with a tertiary degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop, plan and execute strategic and creative marketing and communications initiatives that align with business strategy.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence desirable outcomes with diverse stakeholders.
